ISP's

How is the new NetZero working out? Is it worth it? Can you establish a connection without using their software? How about 2 people using the account with 2 usernames?

Freebies losing because no one clicked on the banner ads, etc. You can find another ISP and compare prices:

or

Netzero is now 40 hours a month free - and you must use their software. From what I see lately, stick with Earthlink or switch to Surfree (same price and they don't bitch about multiple logons - yet).

Question ISP's

Does this sound right?

How it works: While online, your computer's idle capacity performs computational tasks received from our server. It's that simple. As part of the set up process, our software application is loaded on your pc. It runs in the background and does not interrupt or degrade your internet access experience in any way.

: We believe that Internet access fees are excessive. So, in exchange for joining our network, we subsidize your cost for Internet access. We purchase Internet access in bulk, and pass this savings onto you. You enjoy high quality access, without annoying ads or banners. We maintain a modem to user ratio of 10:1 to ensure the best possible access and connection speed.

If you want Juno, be my guest. If you want others accessing your pc, so be it. For $8 a month, you're asking for trouble, imho. Pay a few more $ and get a straight ISP. If you can afford a pc, you can afford respectable ISP's. With all the folks getting firewalls and virus scanners, to keep the snoops out, why pay someone $8 to invite them in? Different strokes for different folks.

Charles, check out Inreach.com. I had Earthlink for awhile and found out that it was 15 hops to connect and one or two of those timed out. Also had some packet lose. Inreach is based in No. Cal. and is still 19.95 a month. Their start page is nice and clean, unlike Earthlinks.
