My brother's Gateway 933mz has AOL 6.0 installed. When online, why doesn't the terminal icons show up on taskbar?

Carl, is there a "DUN" connectoid for AOL? I've never used AOL, but the ISP icon, by right clicking it, configure (under modem), options tab, then check mark the display modem status. This is probably a DUN feature, which AOL doesn't use (?).

Probably because AOL does NOT want you to see how SLOW are you connected and how BAD connections is(lights are off all the time).

Hey Sarge, thanks for coming back to me. I found the "display modem status" and checked it. Probably have to restart to take affect.

Nope - you don't get the modem status with AOL because its a dialer, not direct DUN.

AOL also must affect Hyperterminal because I attempted all the tests and will not connect.
Carl
All this crud because it's "free".

AOL is free in Europe.

I think, in Europe all ISPs are free- they pay for the phone calls.

glc, when my bro bought his new Gateway, he gets AOL for a year free. He just has to pay for the hassles.
