The deafult on MSIE or almost any browser for that matter should presume that any address typed into the URL bar is meant to be HTTP - I am quite surprised at the problem. Does "www" follow the URL?

I put in like www.google.com and it will not go for half a minute, but making it http://www.google.com brings it up instantly. It is MSIE too fyi.

Scan for spyware. You may have a search hijacker.

no u missed the point, its not google only. Like www.nwa.com as opposed to http://www.nwa.com is the same. And typing stuff in the search bar works normally.
