how to set up an FTP Server
i have a computer connect with a router. in my router, i set up an Virtual FTP Server. however, everytime when i am outside and trying to ftp to my FTP Server, seems like it doesn't work. can anyone help me.

What port(s) did you open in your router?

i open port 21, and map the port to my local computer.

Open port 20 as well, and if you are logging in from a WinXP machine, Uncheck "Use Passive FTP" in your internet options.

do u mean, in my router, i also need to open port 20 also, and map the port to my computer within my lan.

In your router, just as you did with port 21, you need to open port 20 and point it to your machine running the FTP server.
