Cant get onto a site...
Hi everyone,
I normally visit this craft related forum called the Bolter and Chainsword B&C but it doesnt seem to work. It takes ages to load and then goes to the "Page cannot be displayed". My friends can all go on it, but i cant :S Ive done virus scans, ad and spyware and found nothing. I also deleted all temp internet files, cookies, history etc but still, I cant get on. oSo Last edited by oSo; 12-31-2004 at 08:42 PM. |

Ive just tried using an IP proxy and found I could now access the site, does anybody know why I cant normally? Could it be something to do with the site itself blocking me?

The only things I can think of is that either your ISP or IP range have been blocked. Since you can access through a proxy, see if they have an email address and send them an email regarding this issue.

would be very weird it its true but take the two seconds to look and see
navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc, in Win XP, if anything other than localhost, its been tampered to direct all urls (on the right) to go the IP's on the left |

My bad, open the hosts file in the folder in notepad
It is a pretty easy way to fool around with someone's computer put this entry underneath localhost: 209.197.112.213 google.com save it and try to go to google, it redirects you. This will give you errors: 127.0.0.1 google.com Like I said, you probably won't find anything there since you were able to load something, even through the proxy, but I guess something cool, could play a joke on a friend. |

The only thing that should be in the hosts file is 127.0.0.1 localhost. All other lines should have a # in front of them. HijackThis has a basic hosts file editor.

Well if there's nothing wrong with the hosts file, then definitely send them an email (assuming you haven't already).
