I'm kinda stumped....
Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure something out. A friend of mine sent me a message over the school network and the message came up in a notice box. The school server uses Windows NT. I've tried things in the command prompt but just can't figure out how my friend did it. I just want to be able to send a message back in the same way. Any ideas? TIA...

In the command prompt: net send (IP, computer name, or username go here) your message

I thought it was net send!! I was trying all the different ways of typing it and couldn't get it right! Thanks spyder003!

If the name is a computername that contains blank characters, enclose the alias in quotation marks (" "). * Sends the message to all the names in your group. /DOMAIN[:name] Sends the message to all the names in the workstation domain. If name is specified, the message is sent to all the names in the specified domain or workgroup. /USERS Sends the message to all users connected to the server. message Is text to be sent as a message.

Ok, I've run across one tiny problem. I'm typing it in right but it keeps coming back with a message saying the alias can't be found, and that to check that I've spelt it right. I'm typing the name correctly, net send (name) my message. I hit enter, it takes about 2 seconds before something happens and then says the alias cannot be found. What am I doing wrong?

Oops, my bad. Disregard that last post. I was typing the /DOMAIN[:name] part wrong. It's working now. Now I feel REALLY stupid!
