Accelerator
I live in A remote area. WE no not have dsl. One provider has something called internet accelerator. Any one know anything about this and how it works?

It precaches web pages on your computer, anticipating where you might go with your next click. All it does is give you faster webpage loading, it doesn't help with file download speeds one bit. It also uses hard drive space. In my opinion, you are better off with a quality hardware based modem (US Robotics 5686 series external serial being the best out there) instead of a typical "winmodem".

The modem I have is A usr that was recomend by this site when I built this comp.. I do not remember model # but it is not A win. It is A u s robotics. It is about one year ago I put it in. The speed is 28.2 kbps which is slow. I guess I will have to live with what I have. Thank you.

If it's only connecting at 28.8, you have a phone line that's not capable of supporting a 56k type connection anyway - not much at all you can do except move or get a satellite dish if you can afford it and justify it.
