IE connects but firefox and a game can't.
My problem:
I have a game, World of Warcraft, that I am trying to pay online and the game is unable to connect online. So I exited out and tried to open Firefox. No luck. Firefox is unable to connect also. So just for fun I tried IE. IE connects just fine. I am able to surf the web and all. So I ran spybot, adaware and Norton and found minimal spyware and no virus. I rebooted and tried again. Same results. So I rebooted into safemode and I tried firefox. Firefox connects fine to the web in safe mode, as does IE. I ran the spyware programs again in safe mode again and everything checks out. I rebooted into regular windows mode and I get the same results as before. IE connects, but not Firefox and not World of Warcraft. I am open to any suggestions to try. |

Sounds like your firewall is blocking both programs. Do you have a firewall installed? If so you're going to need to go into its list of programs and tell it to allow both Firefox and WoW access to the internet. IE should automatically be allowed access by the default settings on the firewall -- that's how it is on most firewalls because in 95% of the cases it is the default web browser for computers.

Interesting. I will need to investigate that this afternoon. I was alos informed to do an msconfig and to turn off all services and then see what happens there as well.
