Hi
No idea if this will help. But, came across something similar in the following link:
http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=8042

Albeit the reference there is to SP1 and not SP2. Have a look and see what you think. Hope it helps you.

Look throught Internet Options and make sure that the history is set to a suitable number of days (default 20) and that nothing is set to delete on close (I think there is an option for this under the tempory internet files button).

the link furnished is exactly what occured but was able to get everything back by using system restore and went back a couple days ago before the last xp update. not sure if the update caused it but will try the updates again and see what happens. havent heard of the updates doing this and there was nothing on m.s. web site so am a little lost as to why it happened. it was keeping nothing other than current address's and as soon as you closed i.e. they were all gone. settings are correct and the defaults.

thanks.

do you have mcafee privacy service installed or same type of application. a feature in mcafee privacy service clears the address bar history to protect your privacy so that other users can't see the list of websites you recently visited. uncheck the clean state option of the privacy service.

nope i use norton 2005 and zonealarm pro. but thats a good thought i have seen in other apps. za doesnt have that feature. rolled system back a couple days and things were back to normal. only thing can think of was the securtiy updates i did 2 of them and then i was testing a phistering (?) i.e. addon.

light bulb just went on it must have been that sft. i was testing and now i cant find it in my support folders. read about it in one of my emagazines i get online. damn wish i could find the file cuz i'd like to check more on that program.
