'The page cannot be found' - message

Hi,
I was trying to make a payment recently and i was getting the following message :

The page cannot be found

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please try the following:

•If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
•Open the secure.paysystems1.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
•Click the Back button to try another link.

HTTP 404 - File not found

Q. Does this have to do anything with my browser (IE6) configuration so as i can fix the problem from there?

Thanks.

It shouldn't be anything to do with your browser. The 404-Not Found errors are basically just as it states, the website is not found. Provided you're entering the name correctly it could be several things such as maybe the website changed its name or possibly their server is down for repair or something else. Either way, the 404 is just the browser's way of saying it sent out the call for that page and nothing answered on the other end.

Another message i receive sometimes is the following :

The page cannot be displayed

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

Please try the following:

•Click the Refresh button, or try again later.
•If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
•To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
• See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).

1.Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
2.On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
3.Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.

•Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
•If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
•Click the Back button to try another link.

Cannot find server or DNS Error

Please note the phrase : or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

So, sometimes a misconfiguration of the browser settings may prevent a page from being displayed, isn't that right?
Is there any, say, optimum configuration of the browser settings that can be achieved?

The error "This page cannot be displayed" signifies that something has disturbed your internet connection. If you see this message, it can mean anything from "critical files have been damaged", to "parental controls are keeping you from seeing this site". Generally, you don't need to worry about this message unless you see it persistantly.

It's possible, yes, but if the page has been working with your browser and you haven't went in and changed anything in it, then it shouldn't be your browser. Only thing I've ever seen cause conflicts like that which had to do with the browser was if the security setting was set too high so it blocks bad sites, or if something was wrong or missing with your 128-bit encryption files....but again, if it WAS working and nothing has changed then that shouldn't be it. I'd still say the site either changed to a different server or are having problems with their current server and are having to fix something. Is there any other way you can get ahold of whoever you're trying to make this payment to in order to see what's possibly going on?
