A question I pose to you form Holiday inn Express

I am sitting here outside a holiday inn express that has posted on thier sign "Free Wireless Internet". I am useing said internet as it is close to my wifes work and I am waiting for her. i am not a guest at this holiday inn. Is what I am doing illegal?

I don't know if it's illegal or not, but if they don't care enough to secure it somehow, they are fair game as far as I'm concerned - as long as you don't try to hack into their internal network.

It's amazing the number of insecure systems out there. I set up a wireless network for a fella whose apartment is above a shopping area in the center of a small town. When his laptop was setup, I could see 4 other networks in the same area. 2 were secure and 2 were not. Of the 2 that were not secure, one was a bank! You'd think they would know better, eh?

I stay in a particular Days Inn quite frequently. I sometimes use some folks' "Linksys" network when the hotel's gets flaky. I can usually see 4-6 besides the hotel's when I'm there, none secured.
