127.0.0.1? what is it?
Hi all just a quick question,
I went to log onto my router today to check the firewall logs just out of interest. as i went to type in the ip address into IE for the router as soon as i typed 1 there were a few different links i could select automatically dropped down from the IE bar saying something along the lines of http://127.0.0.1:(some numbers here)/.download/(some more numbers here)/file name I was just curious to what it is. I have been reading up on it and it says something about 127.0.0.1 being a loop back server. i am sure it has something todo with kazza as the filename is something that has been downloaded. i was just interested to know what it ment Thanks in advance |

Simply a way to ping test thru a loop. Not Kazaa related. It's a legit test feature.

Panama Red is absolutely correct, but I wanted to provide an interesting link on this subject that I recently ran across. It shows you that 127.0.0.1 is one of several "reserved" IP addresses that all have specific meanings.
