Computer Will Not Connect To AOL
My friend's computer is a V2 Premier, and it will not connect to AOL. It can find a modem, dial the number, but when it goes to talk to the network, it just brings up the connection log and shows it attempted. Then it picks another number and does it again. No where in the log does it say why it didn't connect.
I thought I could update the modem drivers, but I don't know what modem it has. Everything in the device manager properties is blank. Is there anything else I should try? |

He's better off
. I kid.Is he using the software dialer that came with the AOL software? if he is use I would suggest creating a manual dialer through the command 'inetwiz' and when he connects it will either work or it will give him an error# that can be used to cleary define the problem. When using the manual dialer make sure you use the actual icon and don't click on IE or OE or it will not give an error number. |

Google for "winsockxpfix", download it and run it. It fits on a floppy. Common issue with AOL when you have a spyware-damaged winsock. AOL also does not like the WinXP firewall at times.
