Question Why Won't Firefox Password Manager Work With vBulletin?

For some reason Firefox Password Manager will save my handle but not my password on vBulletin powered forums. Is it a bug in Firefox, a vBulletin security setting, or are the space aliens messing with my head again?

Seriously, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Are ya checking the little "Remember Me" box or whatever it is near the UserName/Pass entries? Mine works just fine...

I always check the box, and it works on most sites, but on vBulletin powered forums it remembers the name only, never the password.

I fought the same problem for a week or two. Finally I just exported the bookmarks, uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled and imported the bookmarks back in. I did that two days ago and so far, it's remembering all the passwords I tell it to.

I tried a fix I found after searching the net...turn off javascript, delete the problem site from the password list, go to the site, login and tell it to save the password. Turn javascript back on. The problem was that it would eventually forget it again. It was only forgetting the password on two boards, both using the same softwrare.

If I ever find a permanent fix other than uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, I'll post it.

I wouldn't think it's a problem with FF. This forum is powered by vbulletin isn't it. I've been using FF since it was final released and haven't had any probs with it saving my password and username.
Check your privacy settings in FF.

The reason I think it's a problem with FF is I regularly visit several boards using the same vbulletin software. FF couldn't remember the password on only two of them. Internet Explorer has never had a problem remembering the passwords on either site.

When I was having the problem, both sites were listed in FF's Saved Passwords list but when I told it to show the passwords, neither of the two problem boards, although in the list, displayed a password.

Interestingly, after I got things working again, I checked the saved passwords list in FF and one of the problem sites isn't listed at all, the other one is listed correctly. Even so, I go to the site not in the Saved Passwords list several times a day and am automatically logged in.

I've gone through FF's options exhaustively and so far have found nothing that would explain any of the problems I've had nor why one site into which it logs me automatically is no longer on the Saved Passwords list.

I plan to keep looking for more information on the problem in case it crops up again, though.

I suppose it may have something to do with cookie settings.
