Outlook Express Help

I was wondering if there is anyway to get my emails that where in my inbox if I can't log on though xp ? My Xp will not boot up so I can set it up as a backup drive but is there anyway to retieve the info that way ?

Your email folder files will be saved as .dbx files. Search the drive for files ending with that extension. There may be more than one depending if you organized your inbox into folders.

outlook

i looked and only mainly have .dll files in the outlook folder in programs ? Any place else to look ?

It's best to do a windows search for *.dbx, as it is in some obscure folder that if i recall correctly is hidden by default.

*EDIT* here it is:

C:\Documents and Settings\{User Name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{Some really long random number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

one or more of these folders may be hidden by default

Thanks I did find those files . now how can i get these into my new outlook or open them to read ? Thanks for helping me out

You can import them into your new Outlook Express. Use the import wizard, import messages, import from OE6, import from a store directory. Browse to the folder location. Choose which folders you wish to import or just choose all.

I doesnt find the .dbx file when i do that ?any other idea's?
