Connection OK but Browser won't open sites
IBM 600e laptop with Win2000 pro. I just installed a new wireless PC card
and am getting a good connection to the router, but IE or Mozilla will not open any web site. Ping failed after checking : Client for MSNetwork installed/internet protocol TCP installed and selected. Changed from auto configure IP address to manual config using settings from a PC hardwired to the router. Other wireless PC's on the network are working. Flushed DNS cache, and ran Winsockxpfix. Spent a half hour with Netgear New Delhi and was told " problem with TCP/IP stack, not resolving dns server, contact the laptop manufacturer" What does that mean ? Thanks ! PS. Should my ' Ip address' that is given at start/run/ipconfig be the same as my IP Wan address that I get off a WAN search site ? I am getting radically different addresses . My son has recently got a pc. He has inserted the AOL internet disk and it seems okay. When he clicks on the icon though, nothing happens. Can you help?
Sorry if this seems a silly question? I look forward to hearing from you. We have tried to uninstall then reinstall but that doesnt work either... Thanks |

Jackie, please start a new thread so your issue can get the best attention. Have you contacted AOL support yet? If you post a new thread, please provide system details.

Same Problem
completely stumped!!!!!
XP load, newly rebuilt, does not have virus or spyware, working fine one day and then took a big nose dive. I installed a new router about a week ago, I am using WPA and got the PC up and working wirelessly fine, a couple of days later the PC won't pull up any internet site or download POP mail. I have an IP address on my computer for my network and I can ping my POP server and Yahoo, if I type in www.yahoo.com in the browser window it says it finds the website but never loads. Things I have done: cleared cache, uninstalled and re-installed wireless card, I don't have any firewall on the PC, I have manually put in the DNS address for my ISP, I am not using any mac filter on my router. |
