Firefox extension question

I just installed the Tabbrowser Preferences extension and the only difference that I can see is a "new tab" button on the tab bar, which is kind of pointless because I have a "new tab" button on the bar above the tab bar that I got from customizing the toolbar without installing any extensions. Are there any other benefits Im not seeing?

The tab browser extension is really good for making all links clicked load in a new tab and not a new window (without middle clicking of course). There are also so other neat little things you can have. Under Edit > Prefs. you'll find a "page" for tab browsing where you can adjust a bunch of things.
