Go to the IE shortcut. Rightclick / Properties / Shortcut tab. There you'll find a line labeled run which you can choose Minimized, Maximized, or Normal for the window size at start. Experiment with that.

When a window opens minimized, restore it, then position and stretch it with the mouse (don't maximize it) to full screen, hold the shift key down and close it with the X. See if that helps.

did not find the shortcut tab under properties.
the stretch it and shift x it did work!
i had tried control x it and that did not work. i knew there was some fancy footwork that would do it!
thanks to both of you

MAximize your IE browser window. Now holding down the SHIFT key, close the IE window with your mouse.
The next time you open the IE window it should be maximized.
