I need some information on pinging. "rightcoast" gave me instructions on how to ping the internet (specifically yahoo.com). So, I opened a command box and...
-------------------------------------------- typed: ping 204.71.202.160 results: Pinging 204.71.202.160 with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Ping statistics for 204.71.202.160: Packets: sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100%) loss), --------------------------------------------------------- This machine connects to the internet just fine; I'm using it right now. When I did this test the 2nd time, I temporarily set the firewall to "Allow All". I still got the same results. I also tried www.google.com. I always get these results. Could someone explain to me what this means, and why I can't ping Yahoo or Google, but I can connect to the internet??? Using WinXP.SP2, 56K dial up. thank you! lani
