Ie
I'm not sure of my version of IE (came with computer). I am running MS ME. My problem it that when it starts the connect to MSN display appears. If I don't connect and move on to other things (games/word/access) it keeps popping up. how can I disable it?
Thanks |

randyman,
Give us some more details. I can not understand what you are trying to accomplish. When you dial up you don't want ie to open is what I think you want, but I am not sure. Are you configuring your isp or running standard software that came with it. Or is MSN messanger opening ie when ever you connect to it. |

Sound like you have IE 4. What it's doing is trying to create a dial up account with MSN. You have to run the setup wizard-----Start-Settings-Control Panel-Internet Options-Connections Tab-Setup..... Are you using a dial up ISP, or are you on a LAN(DSL or Cable)?????

When I bought my computer it cmae with MS ME. I got a free (haha) year of MSN. When I start the computer the log in for IE/MSN comes up. If I close it (esc or otherwise)and move on it comes back after a few minutes. For example I will be working in a word document and it will pop back up and I have to close it again before I can continue. I want to configure it so that if I close it after the computer is up, I have to click the icon, as opposed, to being interruped.

Control panel, Internet options, Connections - change that to Never dial a connection. This will stop anything wanting to connect to the Internet from bringing up the connect box. When you want to connect, just use the MSN dialup icon. What is probably trying to access the Internet is the ME "check for system updates" function.
