Firefox Cache Q

Greetings all,
I inadvertantly cleared my Firefox cache yesterday, and then discovered when I next launched Ff that I'd lost all my bookmarks for the past several months. The cache was the only alteration to the browser, so I cannot think of any other reason why they'd be gone. My question is is there any way to retrieve them?

Thanks!

You probably haven't lost anything, this is a common occurence and to rectify the problem when you've closed Firefox you should look in the 'Processes' tab in your Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and stop the firefox.exe process. (End Process) Once you have done this you'll find you can access your profile again normally.

Some info on how to access the Profile Manager:

Close Firefox and make sure Firefox is not running in the 'Processes' tab of the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del), if it is - End Process then proceed.....

Click - Start > Run > (type) firefox.exe -p
This will take you to your Profile Manager, from here you can select your profile (or rename, create & delete profile) and take the option to open the Profile Manager on every opening of Firefox. This is handy if you have multiple profiles or you have multiple users.

One other thought is, if you have lost your bookmarks and it isn't a profile problem (which is rare), look in your profile for bookmarks.bak and rename it to bookmarks.html - It might be an idea to install the Bookmark Backup extension too.

Location of Bookmarks & Cache folder (windows only):-

Documents & Settings > *User Name* > Application Data > Mozilla > Firefox > Profiles > *Profile Name* - and they're here!

Hope this helped.
