Protocol

Good Day: Can anyone tell me how to correct the problem of my network dial up stating: Unable to communicate due to protocol error, go into control box and change the network setting for server type? I have called my ISP and they say that I have the correct internet setup. My modem appears to connect but then it disconnects immediately. I have an old packard bell pentium computer. help please

Go into my computer/dial up networking. Right click on the connection to your ISP, go to properties. Click on the Server Types tab, the only things that should be enabled are enable software compression and TCP/IP at the bottom The server type should be 'PPP: Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 98'.

Click on TCP/IP settings, make sure the first two options are set to server assigned, the last two boxes should both be checked.

If ya have to change any of this stuff see if it works after changing. If not, post back and we'll see what else we can find out .
