IIS, XP Pro SP2, ASP.NET asp issue
Hi
I've just reinstalled: XP Pro SP2 IIS I can work with static pages but I keep having problems with asp. I can enter a query and go to the results page but can't update the database: error message is: Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005) [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query. /jashbooks/LocalUpdateDetails.asp, line 111 Browser Type: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Page: POST 77 bytes to /jashbooks/LocalUpdateDetails.asp POST Data: Author=Asimov%2C+Isaac&Title=Foundation&Sold=N&MM_update=form1&MM_recordId=35 I've just come back to this, and this is a different message from before - when I only seemed to be allowed one chance to access the database, then stalling for 5+ minutes before allowing another query. The code was generated by Dreamweaver MX 2004 and worked fine before the reinstall of XP, which now has SP2 and asp.net added. The problem I had before seemed to be a permissions problem. This looks different. Any ideas welcome. James

if you're not using it as a web server, I'll just upload to my site and test there. It frees up a lot of memory on my computer so it isn't just a dedicated development PC.
I had a hard time hooking up IIS, MySQL, and Apache so I just said hell with it and created a test directory on my host and went from there. Another reason I did this is I never got accurate results using Dreamweaver's page preview, especially with CSS. |
