MSN problem -- can't attach JPEGs to email
I have a customer who had a lot of viruses and spyware on their computer (the result of running unfirewalled). I cleaned their computer a couple months back, but ever since then, they have been unable to attach pictures (JPEGs) to their emails in MSN Mail. (They can attach JPEGs in other email programs; MSN is the only one that's a problem.) The error meesage is similar to the following one: "Access to the following potentially unsafe attachments has been blocked: [filename].jpg" I've been over to their house, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling MSN, which fixed it for a bit. However, they now tell me that they're having the same problem, so I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem and knows how to solve it.

Anyone seen this problem, even if you don't know how to solve it? I Googled it and there is absolutely nothing about it.

Could it be that they have the "JPEG virus"? I have heard little about it but appearently it's a nasty bug. MSN might be blocking the pictures because of it.

I suppose it's possible, but I checked their system pretty thoroughly for viruses and removed what I found, so I don't think it's that. I may just tell them that the best way to fix this is a reformat, so that would get rid of residual viruses, too.

That might be the best way to go. If all else fails reformatting is the easiest way to get a virus/spyware ridden system running like new.
