IE Lockup or Freeze
Sometimes IE locks up or freezes if I use the scroll bar on the right side of the browser. I have tried to find an answer to this problem at MS, but that is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Does anyone have any idea why it would do this and if so is there an easy way to fix it? I have tried running the fix IE from ad/remove programs but it hasn't solved the problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have never heard of that happening before with any browser but to be safe us should use Firefox

It happens quite regularly and I have to ctl/alt/delete to shut it down and then reopen and it works fine for a while. It is not really a major problem, just a real pain in that place where the sun don't shine.
I have firefox and it seems to work ok but I still prefer IE. I suppose with time and once I become more familiar with it there is a chance I may use it full-time but for the moment IE is my first choice browser. |

What version of Windows and IE are you running these days?
Cuog: That's not a way to fix IE, posts like that do not contribute to the thread. Please don't do that. - Moderator - |

glc has mentioned on many occassions a compatibility issue with 98se and IE6. The suggestion has been to go back to IE 5.5 instead. I'm no prophet but I suspect that would be his advice this time too.
Before swapping IE6, you might want to go to the Add/Remove programs area, Windows Components and select Internet Explorer. You'll be given an option to do a repair. Try that first. Last edited by Panama Red; 05-10-2005 at 07:43 AM. |

Thanks Red, I kind of figured there would not be an easy answer or even a way to fix it. Such is life.
I will think about your suggestion, I hate removing anything as it always seems to come back to haunt me. Except for this small problem my system is working pretty good at the moment and I don't want to do anything that might cause Win98 to hicup.Cheers, Eaglefeather |
