Firefox 1.04 impressions

Maybe I'm crazy, but after installing the new version over 1.03, it seems a lot faster now. Is this really an improvement or something else making previous seem slugglish?

I haven't noticed any difference in speed, and also I didn't install it over 1.0.3 but removed the previous version.
Linkification was only extension that didn't make it, so I'll have to download and install it again. I've noticed before that it's the most "fragile(?)" of the extensions.
Just now the site is being hammered so I was lucky to have gotten there early.

I think 1.0.4 fixes the security problems that were recently found.

I haven't noticed any speed difference.

What is up with all these updates. What are they trying to do put out a new fix every month or something. If I wanted that I would have stuck with IE or maxthon what ever you want to call it, they're both the same thing at the core.
It actually wouldn't be half bad if they actually had a patching system, instead of having to reinstall the entire browser. From what I've read on other sites this might come in FF 1.1 Anyone know anything about that?

I did the over-the-top install ( like I've done with the past updates) and have no problems nor have I seen any speed increase.

I'm glad the updates are being piped out instead of waiting around for them.

The Firefox philosophy is to install new versions instead of patches. I personally like patches a lot better, but looks great to me.

Firefox 1.1 will release patch formatted updates. I am not sure why it isn't now...but that's fixed real soon.

I must say, I was more than impressed with this update. I was in IRC on #binrev when this was posted as zero day by K-otik. That was 5 days ago, and it's patched already. The exploit was never even known to have actually been exploited in the wild. Amazing. To bad not everyone will update right away, but hey, I'm safe.

I haven't noticed any speed differnces either. I save the download to disc so I don't have to download it for my other PC's , I'm on dialup, and it requires me to uninstall the older version before installing the newer version.

Haven't noticed a speed difference, but there was an issue that I just settled, and it was caused by the update feature (for both new versions/updates of the browser itself, as well as the extentions/themes). After not using Firefox for a while (can't really give a value here as to how long it would take) I would go to open the browser and it would just hang before loading my homepage, and leave me unable to click or type anything in the browser window. I would wait and wait and nothing would happen. So I'd close Firefox, and reopen, and voila, it worked fine. I tried reinstalling a few times, but nothing. I then noticed that the little update icon was appearing when I would first open the browser, so I have since turned off the update feature, and so far, it's run smoothly.

Not sure if anyone else had this problem, but I thought I'd share just in case.

Perhaps I spoke too soon...However rather than try to fix this here I will open a seperate thread.

I see, perhaps the vulnerabilities found in this browser was solved.

Maybe kthejoker02 was "joking".

Strangely enough I haven't noticed a difference on my WinXP machines, but I think it opens a bit faster on my lone Win98SE computer...at least it seems to.

If the 'Deer Park' nightly's (test beds for 1.1) are anything to go by we'll all be in for a nice surprise! They are tangiably faster than 1.0.4, breathtakingly so at times! Currently the biggest problem is waiting for the extension authors to update.

It sure seems a lot faster to me. Glad I'm not the only one -- I switched to FF based on the "speed" of the browser, and these Forum pages loaded a heck of a lot quicker then with IE, but with 1.04, loading seems to go even faster.
