I visited a customer today to install some perifs on his network. He mentioned that he had a problem with two of his 6 workstations. All are Dell and all are XP SP2. On these two machines, athere is no shortcut to IE and IE is not in the Start Menu. He has a link on this Desktop so he can brng up IE like that, also using the favorites menu but gone from the Start >Programs menu and No Icon.
I know this must be simple, but I am more simple so please explain?

You can go to c:\Documents and Settings\(username here)\Start Menu\Programs and add it manually its not difficult just go into its directory in program files right click select copy and then in the c:\documents and settings... paste a shortcut

You can download a free fix tool for IE from here It will reset all the IE settings to default.
I just used it on one of my machines running ME and it was sorted in about twenty seconds.
