splat cant display websites in Firefox and IE

Hi.. please help me. after i reformatted my laptops.. now i have my internet connection. i cannot view any websites using IE and firefox. the internet connection is working with other laptops.. but not this laptop.. i will give the specs... please someone help me

Hp laptop specs:
OS: WIndows XP Sp1
Mobile intel(R) pentium(R) 4-M CPU2.00 GHz
1.99GHz
192mb of ram
web browsers: IE and firefox
internet connection: broadband..

i was wondering i suspect it is something wrong with the computer itself and not the browsers and the connection..am i right?

When you reformatted, did you check the Device Manager to make sure the drivers are installed for your network device? You may need to use another computer to download the driver from HP and load it on the problem lappy.

but i installed all the drivers and software from the system recovery cd that was provided. that is not enough?

Check in the Device Manger and see what it says. That will tell you if that's "enough".

i dont see any question marks in the modem and network adapter sections

i checked with my adminstrator.. the ip add given to me it is internet surfing enabled,

See if your ipconfig on that laptop looks the same as on the others. You may have to make an adjustment to match one of the others. Is this on a business network?

Only other thing I can think of is back in the cmd prompt. Type: ipconfig/release, wait for the the next prompt and type: ipconfig/renew. That will give you a "fresh" connection. Hopefully that will help. Good luck.
