Can't clear FF cache?

For some reason I cant clear my cache in FireFox. I click on it and nothing happens. Usually when I clear it, it takes a few seconds, during which the hourglass pops up, and you can tell the computer is doing something. Now I click, and nothing happens, I clicked over a minute ago, and I can tell nothing is happening. I cleared download history, that worked, and I cleared saved form info and that worked. When its done clearing, the clear button turns gray. The cache clear button is still dark, so I can tell it hasnt been cleared. What can I do?

Does FF have an option like IE does to clear out the cache when you close the browser? If so, it might be set to enable and there might not be anything to clear out?

Its not set to that, because it wasn't before, and I havent changed the settings. Besides, I've been using it for a while without closing it, so the cache would have been used again, and if it wasnt, the clear button would be gray as opposed to dark.

Take a snoop around in the FF directory, you may be able to clear it manually.

You know, that happens to me from time to time. Usually, closing Firefox and then starting it back up again will solve that problem. I'm not sure why it randomly doesn't appear to empty the cache. I've never checked to see if it actually does empty the cache when that happens too.
