Am running Netscape 4.76. No luck two days in a row. Changed to Explorer, still no luck, same message. Have refreshed, reloaded, rebooted, cleared disk cache, cleared memory. contacted friend in another state.......the site is NOT down. They were able to access, no problem. No problems with other sites. Am at a loss. Any ideas?? The site is >>www.salemplace.com>> HELP!!! |

Do you have any "speedup" programs such as netsonic that claim to speedup web surfing? If so then that sites ip address may have changed which means you'll have to open the HOSTS file in Wordpad and remove the old ip address for that site. Then you should be able to access it again. I'm not sure that'll apply to your problem but it may.
Or look here: http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/19970719-12.html or here: http://google.netscape.com/search?q=...arch&hl=en&lr= Last edited by Kento; 06-03-2001 at 11:07 PM. |

Hmm is your internet connection using a proxy server? If so try disabling it.

Oh, jeez.......I have no idea what that is...
a proxy server....or how I would find out.
Live in a small town, everyone has the same server. |

matter of interest, have you checked properties of bookmark to see if url is correct ? It may have become corrupt for some reason. Post is neat way of getting people to take a look at site !!

We are all going to be having problems accessing certain sites for a while - PSI.net (a MAJOR backbone provider) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and expect other providers to pull their peering arrangements with them - Cable & Wireless already has. This is a routing issue that will take time for the various providers to solve and work around. If your provider routes through PSI.net, you will not be able to access any sites that route through C&W right now.
I was screwed all weekend by this situation - my ISP uses 2 separate nets - PSI.net and Navipath.net. The local Navipath dialups were down all weekend and I HAD to use PSI - and it was pretty ugly. This is probably not your particular issue, but it's something to be aware of. |

I contacted my server.......yep, it was this "backbone" problem. He claimed it was being worked on and should be fixed by the end of this week. I am not holding my breath, tho. I guess some people's e-mails were affected too.
Thank you so much! And thanks to everyone who tried to help. I truly appreciate it.
