I am running windows2000 with latest patches and fixes. It has happened on several sites with no message just the IE program closing as the hyperlink is confirmed.

I have not changed any settings (to my knowledge).

Just out of plain curiousity, does this also happen with any other browser?

Firefox, Opera etc etc...

although it is against popular opinion i dont like using firefox (not tried opera though). Firefox does not work as well as IE on the websites i use most.

I have re-installed IE 6 and it seems ok now, will let you know if it re-occurs

ok - this is now iratating - the problem has re-occurred. It is happening on a lottery based site where i need to click on a link to register a prize into my account. (on an machine running XP with IE6 it works) On my home PC it causes the browsing window to close.

I have tried it using Firfox and the same issue occurs... the moment you click on teh link it closes the window.

Please advise - I cannot claim my prize... It will not let me open link in a new window either.

Thanks

unfortunately the main offender is a lottery site on one of the instant win games so you will need to log in and win!

I will post the next time it happens on a "normal" site

It's not embarrasing.

You learn something new every day eh!

I'd never have thought it would be a pop-up blocker either.
