Decreasing firefox load times

My friend showed me a technique to really speed up load times in firefox for web pages. I just thought I would pass it on if you guys haven't seen this yet.

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0?. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

I don't know if this is old or not, but it will speed things up for people with broadband that haven't heard of it yet.

Firefox has never been slow for me either, but it has been a noticeable increase since I tweaked that.

Woah!!! The difference is AMAZING!! Thanks for the tips.

It used to take about 20 seconds to load, I would sometimes think it wasn't running. Not it's as fast as IE.

I saw this from HardOCP a few months ago. They got it from here. Makes Firefox blaze for me.

I think 8 pipelines is suffient enough, rather than 30.

30's way to much, because it might break your connection to a site, with weak packets dieing.
