home wireless encryption problem

i set up a wireless router and the wireless is working, but i have no idea how to set up a password for this wireless network, could some1 help

What router are you using? With mine, the instalation cd gives me options to select they encyption type and set a password, if I choose to change these settings afterward I simply type in the ip in the address bar enter my login name password, and alter the settings from there, but thats with my linksys 2.4ghz wireless/ 4 port lan router, I have a feeling that not all routers are like mine.
