Free Opera... instead of Firefox?
No need to explain why ffx is better than ie.
i'll take almost anything that's free, but i need to be convinced to use it. so i've downloaded the free opera (10 year thingy), but is it worth replacing firefox? when i start considering a format, i start testing every software i can, but now i'm far from it and would rather not experiment. so can i get some opinions please?

I use Firefox for most of the time.
But i do test my website in IE, Opera, Firefox, etc to see how it looks and that there are no, or very little differences to how it's displayed to the user. |

I got that free version of opera too. its cool, low memory footprint, loads faster. but STILL i like ff... lol...
I experimented with both of them. Opera 8.02 & FF 1.06 tweaked.. and FF performed A LOT faster then opera . well its only my opinion. but i'll stick with my firefox

I've been using opera since version 5 and have been quite happy with it.

Im on Opera now.. Its great.
When on my Linux box I use Dillo for non graphical stuff-- its lightning fast. Idk if they make it for Windows. Otherwise I use Opera. |

Opera is indeed faster, but I perfer Firefox for its amazing customization (extentions/themes). I'd take extentions over some speed anyday.

I love adblock, and that is what has kept me to firefox. I thought about trying other things like Maxthon or Opera, but I'm really enjoying FF right now, so I don't really feel the need to experiment.

Firefox always got messed up on Windows, so I switched to Opera, and I like it. It has some weird features, but its nice. On Linux I have Firefox, but I mainly use Bon Echo (Firefox 2.0 Alpha, I think).

I wouldn't say FF "always" messed up... I've never had a problem with it, nor anybody else I know on the outside of PCM and it seems like the major of folks here at PCM that use it are happy with it. It's the broswer I use 90% of the time, but also use the others I mentioned above from time to time. I like Opera, but just don't spend that much time with it as I'm already comfortable with FF.

The newest version (1.5?) always deleted bookmarks and search engines at some random point everytime I installed it. I even reinstalled Windows (for other reasons) and it still happened. If i reverted to the older version, it worked fine, but I was just looking to try Opera.

I go along with Force Flow, I have been using Opera for about six or seven years, back when you had to pay for it to get it without ads. I had dial-up then and thought it was well worth it as it appeared to be faster. I still use it, almost exclusively, I only use IE6 for the web sites that don't work correctly with Opera or some Microsoft sites that require it.
I like the fact that it has had tabbed web pages for several years, also, it does have one unique feature that IE6 doesn't appear to have and I don't know about Firefox. It will read any highlighted web pages to you and it does a pretty good job of it. For people who might require this, it can be a godsend. Dave |

I used FF for a couple of years. I recently downloaded Opera 9 (Beta). It takes a little tweaking to get used to it, but with the built-in mail client I am quite happy with it. Opera 9 also comes with a great ad blocking feature.

I've been using both for ages now. Was a mishap with Opera a while ago (started restarting my computer) but that got fixed and I'm nore than happy to use either browser (preferably Firefox) any day over IE.

I use Opera, and rarely when a website is incompatable, I switch to IE 10.
But - when you get right down to it - its just personal preference |

I tried Opera about 6 months ago ... the encryption wasn't good enough for my financial institution's online banking.
I liked it but I really didn't want to deal with having yet another browser taking up space. I use FFx now for about 99% of browsing, IE as a compatibility fallback. |
