Ie 5.5 Password Problem

When I try to save my 7 charachter password in Internet Options>Connections>Settings, then click OK, then recheck Settings, the password field shows 16 charachters every time. The dial-up connection dialog box does likewise. Is there a password file I can delete?

WIN2K PRO SP2 AMD 850 128 MB RAM

If Win2K is like NT, that's normal - the number of stars does not reflect the number of characters like 9x did - and no, there are NO pwl files to delete. Security is a lot better in NT/2K than 9x.
