FTP Question

Using FileZilla for FTPing. I am trying to delete a folder on the server. It says it's not empty. I open it and see a file name. I select and try to delete the file, but get an error message saying the file does not exist. I'm caught in a circle of not being able to delete. Do you know how to get me out of this one?

I also tried it through telneting in and ran into the same problem.

If you're telnetting have you tried using rm -rf directory?
