satellite internet service
Can I buy a satellite modem and use my old DirectTV dish to get Satellite internet service? Just run the cable to the modem and plug to my USB port and apply for service through some internet outfit.

Direcpc is much cheaper at 149.95 and 49.95 per month for service. The moden alone is 74.00. That's why I wondered if I could use my present DirectTV dish and just buy a modem. I see modems on Ebay for as little as 39.00.

even if it were possible, you would need a vaild user name and password.
direcpc is one-way satelite, you also need a modem w/phone line to use direcpc. starband- 2-way satelite, no modem required
