You can uninstall IE, but since it's built into the OS, you'll have to do a registry dig to get rid of it. There may be a way that you can make Firefox you're default browser by going through it's properties and preferences.

Doubt if you have IE 7 as it isn't out yet. In Firefox, select Tools/Options/General and check to see if it is the default browser.

have you already installed firefox?
if not, install it and when you run it, it will ask you if you want to make it your default. ie will also ask you. untick (unmark) the box "perform this check every time".

You can uninstall IE with aprogram like Nlite but then you can't get MS updates. If you are using Firefox just go to tools, options, general& set as main browser.

You can also edit your registry, to make it so Firefox will open automaticlly when clicking links through IRC and such.
Disclaimer: If you are not sure on how to use Regedit, I'll set up a pretty picture guide for you. Doing this should make it so almost any link you click from whatever program and ect will open it up in Firefox. 1. Go to START 2. Click RUN 3. In the box type "Regedit" 4. Scroll down and find HTMLFILE and double click 5. Then find SHELL (last one in HTMLFILE) and double click 6. Then double click on OPEN. 7. On the right side it should say DEFAULT REG_SZ and the filepath to IE. Double click and under VALUE DATA copy and paste the location to FIREFOX. So it'd look something like this "C:\FireFox\firefox.exe" -nohome Press ok, and close regedit, and you should be all set. Hope this helps.
