Removing Plugins

Is there a way that I can remove a plugin from Firefox? I downloaded a plugin to look at a digital piece of sheet music, and it turned out that what I was looking at wasn't right anyway. I don't know for a fact that it could cause problems or let spyware in, but I would imagine that is why I had to get the plugin in the first place. I would rather just get rid of it to be safe.

This should work: Click on Tools, then Extensions, then click on the one you want to remove, then click on Uninstall.

It isn't an extension, so I don't think it shows up there. Java and Windows media playey plugins don't show up there.

I searched around a little and didn't find much. A couple of places said, basically, to just delete what you dont' want. I can't recommend this, as I've never done it....

Here's a cut-n-paste from one site:

1. Open the main Firefox installation folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox on most Windows machines).
2. Open the subfolder called "searchplugins"
3. Delete the files "plugin-name.src" and "plugin-name.png", where "plugin-name" is the name of the plugin you want to uninstall (see example below).
4. Restart Firefox

As mentioned, I can't recommend it, but if you try it, at least back things up first and do a System Restore point...

Give these a try, it might help. Both are in your tools / options menu.

Thanks, I managed to disable it. It probably didn't cause any harm, but it is better to be safe.
