Dogpile Audio Search
I was just wondering if Dogpile's audio search was legal. It seems like you can get any files you want from there and yet there free. Just curious.
Thanks!

Is the audio search legal? Sure it is; Dogpile does not store any illegal files, or any files that infinge upon copyright. It just indexes files that have been found on servers that it is allowed to crawl. Are the files on the individual sites legal? Nobody knows but the owner of the site/space (and you probably know it as well through simple reasoning), there are a ton of audio files out there that are legal, but it doesnt mean that they all are. For example, if you're downloading a hot new track or something for free, it is highly unlikely that it's not legal. And it means that you violate the copyright when you download it as well.
Incidentally, dogpile is good, but all it does is collate the search results of other search engines. So in essence, for example, is it legal to find an mp3 or an illegal download through Google? Nope. |
