Have a web page I visit every day....sometimes 3 or 4 times. Has text and a few pictures. Last night it was fine. This morning, a couple of pics had disappeared, one had multiplied (!) and the banner reproduced itself in the middle of the page. I thought perhaps the site developer was working on the page at the time......but that was not the case. A friend checked the site, it was fine and as it was supposed to be.
I have Netscape 4.76. I reloaded 3 or 4 times. No change. I emptied my disk cache. So I closed Netscape, and opened IE......Guess what. The site was fine and showed as it was supposed to. I logged off, shut down and a couple hours later turned the computer back on,launched Netscape.....went to the site......still a jumbled mess. I again reloaded, again emptied my cache, to no avail. Any ideas?? H E L P!! Thanx. |

Can you check the site from another computer with Netscape? If you want to post the URL, I will look at it in all 3 of my browsers (Opera, NS 4.77, and IE 5.5). Either something is flaky with your install, or the site has some HTML issues that IE ignores but Netscape chokes on.

Hard to ask someone else.....as they would have no way of knowing if the pictures were the right ones in the right place. This is a new page, just a few weeks old. Had no problem the first week. The website owner posted a query on it for a day asking if anyone else was having problems....but as I said, if you did not know what was supposed to be there, how could you tell.
After I posted above, I decided to check the page using IE. It came out fine. The way it was supposed to. So then I went back to Netscape, emptied both my memory cache and disk cache. When I then reloaded the page, it came up perfect. The next day......all jumbled again. Then I got the IE open, and it too had the pics jumbled....but refreshing made it all o.k. This morning the site was o.k. in Netscape....but this afternoon it once again was jumbled. here is the site.......http://www.geocities.com/dooltop10/ All the text is fine. The pictures refer to some of the text, so when they are in the wrong place, disappeared, or doubled!! Could there be something with MY computer? Am sure at a loss. |

Amazing - that's one of the only webpages I have ever seen that looks almost identical in IE, NS, and Opera. That's a GOOD thing. I looked at the source, and noticed that the page was created in Geocities' page creator. I am far from being an HTML expert - in fact I know almost nothing about code, but you might want to have an expert look at the code for any problem areas.

Well there are quite a few errors in the code. Most minor stuff like not have a # in front of the color. Some nesting errors, but the images are just plain vanilla <img src="images/picture.jpg"> . They are mostly jpg images, so nothing funny there either. If I had to guess, I would say probably something to do with your browser cache.
