I use Windows 98 SE with IE 5.0 to access the web. I am having difficulty entering a site to which I am a member...requires user ID, password, and membership ID. I get an error message saying page not found but I am sure there is nothing wrong with the site. I recently changed to cable internet access and suspect there may be some issue with security settings in IE 5.0. Can anyone shed some light on this problem or point me in the right direction...I have contacted the site...they don't know how to fix it.

In addition to the obvious issues of whether it is just the username/pwd/ etc, have you checked to see if your browser is up to speed with what they want .. is it 128 bit?
And finally have the site's admin check if they have a list of IPs allowed, some authentication also involves the username & IP matched, and since you changed access methods, it doesnt work. Just some thoughts |

How many different encryption choices are there and how do you know which type your browser is using?

It's not the encryption. I use AOL while at work and sometimes the site mistakens my computer for another. That's probably what's happening. I hav e also notices on my other computer (I also recently gotten a new internet server) that I have to reload the site that I am currently on after I already clicked on the link to that site. If this is not the case then you may have to optimize your browser all though most computers are compatible with IE 5.0.
