I have a box on the wall from NTL that then goes into a modem, the cable is too short for were I want it to go. So is there a max lenght of cable from the NTL box to the modem? Also does it matter as well about the lenght of cable from the modem to the computer?
Thanks for any help in this matter. Walter

Is it a USB cable or a Cat5 network cable? Cat5 cable can go as far as 100M (about 300ft). USB is probably 15 or so before you have to get a hub. They don't generally put very long cables in with the modem usually a 7ft one.

If I'm not mistaken, NTL is cable, so it's probably RG6 to the modem, you should be able to get away with 100 feet or so. Mairving's recommendations are correct for the modem to the computer.

Thanks for that, it is for a NTL modem, not sure about the cable though. It is not a USB cable. If it is, either of the other cables then there will be no problem, as the distance will only be about 16 feet or so.
Thanks again for the help. Walter
