New Problems and issues
Okay,
Per suggestions here on safety from spyware and viruses, I switched over from Internet Explorer to NetScape. I do have a few problems and issues. On my computer, when accessing some sites, I get a pop up window that tells me "The domain name cannot be found. Please check the name and try again", even though I am at the page I want to be. How do I get rid of that damn alert. On my sons computer, some of his internet games like "ToonTown" do not work properly on NetScape. All the controls are not accessable, but they are on IE. What do I do about these issues? Thanks |

The "Domain Name cannot be found" is usually not a browser issue. It is caused when your computer cannot connect to the actual site. This is usually what happens when your ISP's service is down.
Some sites do not display correctly is most likely caused by developers only testing sites on IE. I experience this when using FireFox. Nothing really you can do about it, other than use IE unfortunately. Also, check to make sure you have JavaScript/Flash enabled on the Netscape brower. |

You could try disabling IPv6 on your firefox (it is firefox that you're using, right?). Read: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Error_load...ther_Solutions (section other solutions). Also go through the troubleshooting on that page to see if any of it is related to your issue.
Regarding internet games etc. It depends on how well the game is coded for all browsers. Not just for IE. Firefox is an extremely standards friendly browser PROVIDED the site/applet has been coded properly. |

Well, there is a more simple solution than "going back to IE". Simply use IE for those sites you can't open in Netscape. I do this with Firefox all the time, though there are very few sites that don't work with firefox.
