Outlook express help.

Hi

Im using outlook express 6 and want to change the sound that plays when a new messege arrives. i cant seem to find the option to do this anywhere. i found in the tools menu the "play sound with new messege" button but thats as far as i can find.

Thanks if anyone knows how to change the music.

Go to Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Sounds Tab and scroll down in the Program Events window to New Mail Notification.

I did this but got the messege

"Windows could not play "tune" the file may be damaged or an unrecognised compression format
to resolve the problem replace the file or add/remove programs in control panel to install audio compression"

How do i do that i had a look round add/remove and couldnt find anything.

Cheers

What "type" of file did you try to change to? How large is it? Did you try a different type of file?

12kb is small but should work. And .wav is the default file type.

Does it play ok if you double click on it?

Try some other default sounds to see if they work?
