Are you having trouble with adblock?
I was having trouble with adblock over the past few days. The filters still functioned, but you couldnt manually block anything. If you right-clicked on a picture or a banner, you would get the adblock option in the menu, but it wouldnt work. Trying to find a solution, I was going to start a thread on PCMech asking for help. First I searched the forums, and then google. I found my solution using google, but these forums turned up no results.
So I'm starting a thread for all the other people who have this same problem, but no solution. Here is what you do if Adblock is not working/blocking: First, the reason is simple. Adblock doesn't work well with firefox 1.5. If you had Adblock, and then upgraded firefox, adblocks filters will work, but you can't manually block anything. So what you need to do is install the "Adblock Plus" extension. Here Scroll down to the third text box from the top, dated October 23, 2005. Scroll to the bottom of that post, and click "Install". Install it, reboot firefox, and you're good to go! It basically adds on or takes the place of the original adblock, so in your extensions folder, it will belocated where the original adblock was, not at the bottom of the folder (unless that's where the original adblock was for you). So when you dont see it at the bottom, now you know that itworked, you're just not looking in the right spot. I hope this helped some people. On a side note, go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ to download firefox 1.5 if you haven't already, and are a firefox user (or are interested in becoming one) and go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ to download extenstions. Just browse around that second link, there are tons of extensions, and alot of them are good. One which I HIGHLY recommend, is stumbleupon. It's so much fun, showing you tons of websites related to your interests. Check it out! |

Which version are you having probems with? I'm running 0.5.2.055 with FF 1.5 and have no problems. Haven't tried Adblock "Plus" yet (0.5.10). Also, I'm curious that your link above mentions FF 1.6 !?! I checked out their site and don't find that out yet...

I might download later... I am happy with 1.5 the way it is now though.
