ISP's

I am curious as to who is everybody using for ISP and how much are you willing to pay. Since Earthlink went up recently I am considering going with a local ISP here in California. Any suggestions? Thanks.

charles, here's two you can look into.
softcom.net based in Modesto, Ca 14.95 a month or 9.95 a month on a yearly prepay.
inreach.com based in Stockton, Ca 19.95 a month

Both are 56k connection and very ad free.

$20 for multilink with none of your business. I like the fact they don't sell themselves, are a well kept secret, thus never over-loaded.

If you want a reliable dialup ISP that's gonna be around for the long haul, stick with Earthlink. They may have raised their rates $2, but you now have the equivalent of the old "family pack" which was $2 extra anyway.

I was with Surfree - which got bought out by us.inter.net. So far, so good - and it's $19.95 month to month, $16.25 a month if you pay a year up front.

If you are getting good service, it doesn't make sense to jump around to save a couple of bucks. It's a pain changing your e-mail address with all your correspondents and most providers will not forward mail if you close your account. Those "email address for life" free services (Yahoo, Hotmail. etc.) are OK if you like dealing with web-based mail and tons of spam.
