sharing cable modem on lan
i have a cable modem with telewest in the uk and want to know how i can use it to access the net through my lan cos i aint got a clue how to do it thanks

You can use software such as Internet Connection Sharing, Wingate, etc., or buy a router that will do the same thing 100 times better with hardware instead.
The router will also provide a firewall to all machines behind it. If you don't mind spending a hundred bucks or so, take a look at the Linksys, Netgear, and SMC Barricade Cable/DSL router-switch combos. The help files at the sites of those manufacturers have some pretty good docs on how it all works. Xayd |

I bought the netgear rp114 cable/dsl router which is a combo router and hub so you can share files and internet access. the link is here http://www.buynetgear.com/product.asp?sku=1700133 and to buy from their site is 180$ which is sort of a rip off because i got it for about 80$ at a bestbuy. i don't know about where you can find it in the uk though. anyway, it's pretty awsome- i just plugged it in and it worked.
