Junk Mail question

Hey,

Something has gotten my gmail account and is continuously sending me junk mail. (That's nothing new I know). The frustrating part though is that it's extremely timely. It will send 1-2 emails at a time, never more, and will wait until I delete those until shooting me another. This has to be from the same person or whatever since it's somehow tracking when the message was deleted, then replacing it within a day's time.

Is there any way to find out the sender and block mail coming specifically from them? I know that companies sell email lists to individuals who then send blanket spam emails, so it could be coming from multiple sources. I just know that it's always knowledgable of when I deleted it (even if I didn't open it) and sends me another. I always just check them and click the "report spam" button, but it does nothing to block it. My mother's charter account lets her block mail from specific users, but I have yet to find that in gmail's options.

Anything I can do?

The only thing I can think of is the Filter option in Gmail. When you log in, it's under Settings in the top right corner. The page it brings up shows General but if you look to the right there's another tab that says Filters where you can create a new filter to weed out emails according to who they're from, if they contain certain words, or whatever. The next step lets you pick the action you want and in your case I'd assume it'd be "Send to Trash". If you need help figuring it out just get on the main login page and click Help then Filters and it'll give you a couple links and a even a Flash movie to show you how to use it. (Probably need to check this out anyway because things like putting email addresses in the From box have to be in parentheses. Little special things like that. Doesn't look real hard though.) Hope it helps ya.
