Outlook Express Files Problem

I have recently migrated onto a new installation of windows xp on my laptop. I backed up outlook express dbx files to a another partition and started from the scratch on my primary partition.

When it came to restoring the files to outlook express, it fails, saying the files contain no emails or another program is accessing the files.

Can someone tell me what to do?

Have you tried copying the dbx files to a temporary folder on the same partition? I don't know for sure if that's the cause, but I've heard of people having problems getting OE to recognize dbx files when they're on a cdrom, so maybe being on a different partition is giving the same problem. After that just use the Import function and pick where it says something about "Import from an OE6 save directory". It should find them if they were exported correctly and the messages are in there.
